Located
in northern Wake County, Wake Forest is a progressive community of
over 20,000 residents with a vibrant downtown that boasts more than
100 businesses, including several outstanding restaurants and specialty
shops. Mindful of its rich heritage, the downtown is also an officially
registered historic district. Representative of its academic history,
the town is the home of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary
and the Southeastern College at Wake Forest. Wake Forest maintains
its small town character, while captivating newcomers and long-time
residents alike.
The town of Wake Forest features numerous shopping and dining opportunities,
mixed with cultural diversity. Parks, green spaces, and tree-lined
streets add to the livability. The town offers schools, medical facilities,
businesses, arts and attractions.
Wake Forest has developed a vision for downtown known as the Renaissance
Plan for the Heart of Wake Forest. The initiative is the culmination
of an intensive community input process designed to provide a foundation
for revitalization efforts for the historic downtown core, as well
as the future development of areas surrounding the historic Central
Business District. The recently completed half-mile section of Franklin
Street is the first constructive phase of the Renaissance Plan and
is considered the newest gateway to downtown Wake Forest. In the coming
months and years residents will observe other exciting changes throughout
the area, including several road enhancements, Downtown Streetscape,
and a new Town Hall.
Located less than an hour's drive from the major cities of Raleigh
and Durham, Wake Forest enjoys mild year-round climate that still
provides four distinct seasons; a lush, rolling landscape tailor made
for everything from agriculture to golf; plentiful water and blue
skies.
Several of Wake Forest’s attractions include:
• The Factory - a sports and entertainment mall for
parents and kids alike to eat, shop, and play. Kids can play soccer,
go to dance lessons while parents shop and grab a bite to eat.
